Jeff Bond, Director and Principal Consultant for Bond Performance Consulting.
Jeff Bond is a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society (APS)and has been an APS Member since 1979, a registered sport and exercise psychologist, a Member of the APS College of Sport and Exercise Psychologists and has an extensive and varied high performance and learning and development background.
Jeff has tertiary qualifications in physical education and teaching (The University of Melbourne and Melbourne Secondary Teacher’s College), psychology (Monash University), educational psychology (Monash University), and a Masters degree in sport psychology (The University of Alberta).
He has 15 years secondary teaching and university lecturing experience in Victoria followed by 22 years as Head of Sport Psychology at the Australian Institute of Sport (Canberra). Jeff was an Account Director for 4 years with a UK-based business performance consultancy (Lane4Management Group), and subsequently accepted a position as General Manager, Learning and Development at a Melbourne-based AFL club. More recently he was a Management Consultant at the Associate Director level at KPMG. He now leads his own performance consultancy business.
Among Jeff’s many career highlights are: Accreditation as a sport psychologist at 9 summer and winter Olympic Games (he worked predominantly with swimmers, equestrians, rowers and all winter sports), and multiple World Championships and Commonwealth Games. He has worked for several professional football teams (Newcastle Knights, Sydney Swans, St Kilda, Richmond), the Subaru Rally Team Australia and numerous individual professional athletes (including Pat Cash during his successful 1987 Wimbledon Championship).
Jeff is a regular sport psychology media commentator for print, television and radio. He has presented many times at international conferences, has published numerous articles in refereed and popular journals, written several book chapters, co-edited a book on the history of sport psychology in Australia, and is currently writing a book on the psychological principles underlying peak performance for elite athletes and business leaders.
Jeff is an experienced executive coach and workshop facilitator and has worked for the following government and private enterprise clients nationally and internationally: AFP, ADF, Austrade (Osaka and Tokyo), AGL, Young President’s Association, 9msn, Hong Kong Hospital Authority, Merrill Lynch (Hong Kong), Deutsche Bank (Tokyo and Sydney), UBS, Standard Chartered (Singapore), Kendle, Hewlett Packard, Pacific Hydro, Dutch State Mining (Bangkok and Singapore), Roche (Switzerland and Sydney), Microsoft (Singapore and Hong Kong), UK Atomic Energy Authority (Scotland), Minter Ellison, Ericsson, Brambles, Bunnings, Tangs (Singapore), Caltex Australia, and BP Australia.
In recognition of his distinguished services to the Australian community, the psychology profession, and Australian sport, Jeff has been awarded the following: Order of Australia Medal (2009), Inaugural Member, Latrobe City Sporting Hall of Fame (2006), Australian Psychological Society College of Sport Psychologists Award of Distinction (2005), Fellowship of the Australian Psychological Society (2000), and the Australian Sports Medal, (2000).
